The airport was eerily quiet at night, and as he got out of the car, the cold wind rushed into his body.
Chi Xingyu had booked the nearest flight.
He sat silently in the VIP lounge, absorbed in his phone.
A staff member who brought snacks and hot water glanced over, unable to see what was on the screen; it looked blurry, almost like a surveillance feed.
Yet Chi Xingyu was particularly focused.
It seemed as if the content on the screen stirred all his emotions.
Tong Sui, however, was not sleeping soundly and only managed to fall into a deep sleep in the early hours of the morning.
This left him still asleep when dawn broke.
When Chi Xingyu returned to the small house, the fatigue of the day had left red streaks under his eyes, shocking the production crew when they saw him return.
The distance between City S and City H meant he hadn’t scheduled any rest time for the round trip.
This also stunned the early morning audience in the live-stream.
—??? Why is Chi Xingyu back again?
—The dead couple is attacking me again!
—He looks so tired, what did he do yesterday?
—He ran straight to Sui Bao’s room as soon as he came back, true to form, Chi Xingyu.
Chi Xingyu reached the second floor, eager to see Tong Sui, and pressed the door of the room down.
It wasn’t locked.
He gently pushed it open and walked in, still feeling disoriented from the long night flight as his feet touched the ground.
Tong Sui was oblivious to someone entering, and the other bed was empty as Jiang Ciyan had gone out for a morning run.
Chi Xingyu tiptoed quietly, crouched by the bedside, inhaling the unique light fragrance that lingered around Tong Sui, as if his restless soul was finally calmed.
He softly leaned closer, almost kneeling on the ground, resting his forehead against Tong Sui’s.
“Kid Bao, I’m back.”
Tong Sui’s eyelashes fluttered, and he opened his eyes confusedly, thinking he was still dreaming when he saw a hazy figure before him.
He reached up to touch Chi Xingyu’s slightly prickly hair.
Chi Xingyu’s warmth made his heart race.
Unable to resist the rising thoughts, Chi Xingyu’s knee pressed against the ground, and he lightly kissed Tong Sui’s lips.
His initial touch was soft, eager to get closer but afraid of disturbing the fragile Tong Sui on the bed.
Rationality often fails in the face of impulse.
As their lips warmed with the mingling of heat, he gradually lost control.
He had been thinking since last night that regardless of whether he could return as a guest, just being there to watch him would be enough.
But now, Chi Xingyu realized he had overestimated himself.
He was never someone who could be easily satisfied; this degree of closeness was necessary to ease his restlessness.
The slight chill on their lips heated up with their actions.
At first, Tong Sui still felt a bit muddled, thinking this dream was more real than usual.
Coming to his senses, the details of Chi Xingyu became strikingly clear, each sensation grinding against his nerves.
This was no dream at all.
Tong Sui panicked, mistakenly biting his lips, hearing Chi Xingyu let out a hiss; he quickly recoiled.
Covering his mouth, he leaned against the headboard.
“You…”
Chi Xingyu shook off the fatigue he had just moments before, licking his lips like a proud little dog, his lips glistening now, “Morning, I’m back.”
Tong Sui couldn’t believe what he was seeing. He thought Chi Xingyu would take several days to return or perhaps not come back at all.
Seeing Tong Sui’s reaction was faint, Chi Xingyu asked, “Aren’t you happy to see me back? I took the closest flight and rushed back.”
“I’m happy…”
Tong Sui was still a bit dazed, but the taste of Chi Xingyu lingered on his lips, reminding him of the kiss.
He looked completely unawake, with messy hair, yet his lips were exceptionally red, making him seem easy to tease.
Chi Xingyu felt a stir in his throat again.
“Can I kiss you again?”
As he said this, he leaned closer, adopting a low posture, shedding his usual cold demeanor.
In an instant, the comments flooded the screen:
—After last night’s drama with Jiang, I suddenly feel like reneging; a gentle stray dog only caring for its owner is irresistibly charming.
—Kiss! Give it your all!
—How could he look like this and be accused of domestic violence? If Sui Bao kicked him twice, he’d probably consider it a reward.
Tong Sui used his hands to block Chi Xingyu’s approaching face, needing to wash his face first to wake up, “Your luggage is in the corner, go grab it.”
Seeing that he wouldn’t succeed, Chi Xingyu obediently responded, standing up straight.
Tong Sui pulled back the covers and got out of bed, picking up his clothes and turning to wash up.
Listening to the sound of water coming from inside.
Chi Xingyu approached his luggage, intending to put his things away first.
As he left the room, he bumped into Jiang Ciyan, who had just returned from his run, blocking the doorway.
Jiang Ciyan was not surprised to see Chi Xingyu, “You came back quickly.”
Chi Xingyu pushed his suitcase, feeling good-spirited, replied, “Of course, I can’t leave without snatching my room back from you.”
He felt no embarrassment about being caught but instead walked confidently past Jiang Ciyan back to his room.
Tong Sui stood in front of the mirror, droplets of water shimmering on his freshly washed face as he stared at his reddened lips from the kiss.
It shouldn’t be too obvious, right?
He consoled himself as he got dressed and turned out to see Jiang Ciyan already back from his morning jog.
The two locked eyes, and Tong Sui remembered what had happened the night before, awkwardly looking away.
